perhaps surprisingly, it's not at all hard, and it even saves me money (every saving helps when you're an art student!). There is so much lying around us that can be (re)used for all sorts of purposes, and most of the time the previous owner has carelessly chucked it away. I find it puzzling that artists frequently go out of their way to buy new blank white paper when they can just as easily use the remains of a cardboard box in the attic or a leaf out of today's paper. as I'm working on my own stuff I'm figuring out solutions to the problems of avoiding toxic paint and manufactured paper and canvases. eventually I hope to put together a small guide to sustainable creativity, but I've got a lot to learn before that.
all I ask is for people to consider their creative impact on the environment. please think of our planet. it's the only one we've got and art is too powerful a medium not to be used to help communicate this.
thank you
